Great Yarmouth - Market Gates Shopping Centre
Yet more new names open at Great Yarmouth
O2 and Orange, the national mobile phone companies, along with Poundland, are the latest new openings at Market Gates in Great Yarmouth.
Miller Development’s £16M extension is now complete and the shopping centre is thriving, with footfall figures showing an increase of 48% since last year; great news in the current market. The new extension opened on 30th October 2008 and provides an additional 55,000 sq ft of retail space. Anchor store, Debenhams has opened their new format department store trading over 27,500 sq ft (2,555 m²) and New Look has relocated to a store triple its original size. Heads of terms have also been agreed with another retailer taking space within the scheme, which will be announced shortly.
December openings for the scheme include Starbucks and Poundland, who are both newcomers to the town. Anchor supermarket, Iceland began trading earlier in the year and both Orangeand O2 opened before Christmas. ShoeZone has also refurbished their store adding to the current facelift of the scheme along with Store Twenty One, which opened this summer. The new stores join Wilkinson, Dorothy Perkins, Boots and JD Sports.
The extension and refurbished car parking facilities ensure that local shoppers can get all they need within their local area rather than travelling to Norwich. The upturn in footfall and great new brands opening shows a change of fortune for the scheme.
Remaining units available to let, with sizes ranging from 660 sq ft (61 m²) to 2,600 sq ft (242 m²) are being marketed through Roche Retail and Kitchen La Frenais Morgan.
